I shared this on Instagram / Facebook a few weeks ago, and after some beautiful feedback I'd like to expand on it a little.
Original story:
We all have different demons to slay.
- I didn’t have to slay the “I don’t like my face” demon.
~ I had to slay the “I don’t like my body” demon.
- I didn’t have to slay the “I struggle with friendships” demon (I have always been blessed with many friends).
~ I had to slay the “I can’t be in a healthy romantic relationship demon” (only recently massively slayed on this front).
- I’ve never had to slay the “I can’t find a good apartment” demon (I always find incredible places to live easily, regardless of housing market).
~ I had to slay the “I can’t stay in Europe legally” demon.
- I didn’t have to slay the “I struggle with mental health” demon.
~ I did have to slay the “chronic physical pain” demon.
- I didn’t have to slay the “I’m not going to be successful” demon (I have always known I will be, it's just a matter of time).
~ I had to slay the “I am going to do meaningful work in the world demon” (look at me slaying it in real time, every time I share something with you)
What demons did or do you have to slay? What demons did you not have to slay that you took for granted? It's a mixed bag for all of us.
Expanded version:
The response I got was this, 'Personally it helped to not see those shadow aspects of my soul as demons, but as parts, trauma parts of my soul that were trying to keep me safe. Even the nastiest and most hurtful "beasts" of my inner life were created by me, or because of the way I lived. I can release them by understanding their purpose, sitting with them, hugging them and explaining that their purpose is no longer needed' - Hannah T.
Honestly, she nailed it and I fully agree. The 'slaying' I wrote about above is actually the least violent thing ever, and only possible in the absence of shame. It's more of a homecoming, a total acceptance and an integration. I like using Astrology and Human Design as tools to help me identify and articulate the particular challenges that are on my bingo card for this incarnation. I see and study enough charts to know that people get tasked in really different arenas, so I no longer spend so much time questioning, resisting or denying the allocation.
